ACHIEVING EFFECTIVE TEACHING AND LEARNING OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION IN NIGERIA TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS WITH THE USE OF INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ICT) IN NIGERIAN TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS
Abstract
Teaching and learning are inter-related activities that bind the teacher and students together: the go-in-between the teacher and the learners in the process of interacting with the subject matter are termed the instructional materials. This paper presented the usage of ICT as the appropriate pedagogy to enhance effective teaching and learning of entrepreneurship education in Nigeria tertiary institutions. The concept of entrepreneurship education and its benefits, concept of information and communication technology in the teaching learning process, ways of using ICT for teaching-learning process and challenges facing usage of ICT in Nigerianbtertiary institutions were examined. Based on the problems of the usage of ICT identified, appropriate recommendations were eventually suggested among which include, need for positive attitudinal change among Lecturers towards the adoption of ICT, more commitments to duties are therefore expected of lecturers teaching entrepreneurship education, all the required infrastructures should be provided. Computer hardware and software should be provided to enhance the teaching and learning of the subject. ICT literacy should be transferred to every teacher and learner of entrepreneurship education, all educational institutions should fund all cyber café in their institutions. Government should urgently improve the provision of power supply to enable adequate utilization of available ICT facilities, governments, parents and non-governmental organizations should provide students at all levels of education with basic ICT resources, seminars, conferences and workshop on computer usage and its applications should be organized for business entrepreneurs occasionally to enhance growth development.
