SKILL ACQUISITION THROUGH BUSINESS EDUCATION PROGRAMME: A TOOL FOR SELF-EMPLOYMENT AMONGST GRADUATES IN DELTA STATE

Abstract


This study investigated skill acquisition through Business Education as a tool for self-employment. Three purposes, three research questions and three null hypotheses guided the study. Descriptive survey design was adopted in the study. The population of the study consist of 77 Business Education lecturers. The entire population was used for the study. The instrument for the study was a structured questionnaire, mean and standard deviation was used to analyze the research questions while z-test was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The findings in the study showed that Distributive trade Management Skill OMT skill and Accounting skill in Business Education Programme enables Business Education graduates to create employment for themselves. The researchers recommended that Business Education graduates should utilize these skills for employment creation.
