ENHANCING STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENT IN PHYSICS USING EXPERIENTIAL TECHNIQUES IN KOGI STATE, NIGERIA

Abstract


 

 

This study investigated the Use of experiential technique in enhancing students’ academic achievement in Physics in Kogi State. The study was guided by two research questions and two hypotheses. The study adopted Quasi-experimental design, specifically, non-equivalent pretestposttest non-equivalent control group design. A sample of 294 senior secondary two students out of the total population of 7920, were selected randomly using multistage sampling, technique. Physics Achievement Test-(PAT) was used for data collection. The data collected were analyzed using mean, standard deviation and analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). The findings revealed that experiential teaching technique had significant effect on students’ academic achievement in physics. It was therefore recommended that physics teachers should be retrained to adopt the use of experiential teaching technique to enhance students’ achievement in physics among others.
